HOW IT WORKS

A cocktail for a cause? We'll drink to that! Tortoise Supper Club’s Cocktail for a Cause campaign was created as a fun way to give back to the community. Every month Tortoise Supper Club joins forces with local non profits and creates a custom cocktail to promote throughout the month. $3 of every cocktail sold is donated directly to the organization that we partner with. Treat yourself to one of our #CocktailsForACause on your next visit to Tortoise and support our efforts to help give back to our community, one cocktail at a time.

Our March Cocktail for a Cause raises money for The Miracle Center.

THE IMPORTANCE OF NON PROFITS

Nonprofits embody the best spirit and values of our nation. They help millions of individuals and families daily. They protect, feed, heal, shelter, educate, and nurture our bodies and spirits. Nonprofits also give shape to our boldest dreams, highest ideals, and noblest causes. They turn our beliefs into action - as promoters of change, champions of the common good, incubators of innovation, laboratories of leadership, responders in times of trouble, and weavers of community fabric. Nonprofits empower us to do better and be better. In recognition and appreciation of the labors of love set in motion by Nonprofits, we ask ourselves, what can we do to assist in their efforts? How can we help meet the needs of others in our community? Our community is only as strong as its members, and it takes a combined effort to ensure the future success for generations to come.

I’ll eat some breakfast, then change the world.

OUR MARCH CHARITY

For the month of March, we've paired up with local non-profit, The Miracle Center. The Miracle Center uses after-school and summer programming to empower and train inner-city youth in developing full theater productions that address important subject matters. Youth are responsible for the artistic outcome of the production, which includes design, casting, lighting, music and performance. Programs include their Youth Theatre Ensemble, a Young Entrepreneurship Programs, Youth Dance Ensembles, amongst many others.

Our partnered charity for the month of March is The Miracle Center.

Stop in anytime throughout the month of February and show your support for The Miracle Center by ordering a “Curtain Call”, our cocktail for a cause benefiting The Miracle Center. $3 from each cocktail for a cause sold goes directly to their charity. This delicious libation includes a house infused dill vodka, fresh squeezed lime juice, and house made honey syrup. We finish it off with a couple dashes of grapefruit bitters and grapefruit zest. The flavors combined make for not only a crisp and refreshing drink, but a beautifully balanced and complex one as well. The bright citrus notes from the fresh lime juice and zesty grapefruit bitters along with the herbaceous, savory characteristics from the dill coincide perfectly with just the right amount of sweet from the house made honey syrup.

The "Curtain Call" is a great drink to enjoy during Happy Hour in our lounge with friends or co-workers, or on our patio soaking up some sun on a wonderful spring day in Chicago. Post a picture of you or your friends and family enjoying a "Curtain Call" on either Tortoise Supper Club or The Miracle Center's pages. Include the hashtag #CocktailForACause #CelebrateAtTortoise #TheMiracleCenter or #CurtainCall in your post. Stop by tonight and start paying it forward one cocktail at a time! What do you have to lose? We’re giving you an excuse to let loose! Stop in and try a “Curtain Call”. Help us raise money and awareness for this amazing organization!

There are many ways to volunteer and donate to The Miracle Center aside from our Cocktail for a Cause. Another fun, simple way to show your support for TMC is by purchasing tickets to an upcoming production. Upcoming productions include TMC's Youth Theater Ensembles presentation of Hairspray Jr. in mid May!

On Tuesday March 7th, our family at Tortoise welcomed national Emmy Award winning producer Rubye Wilson and film crew of ABC 7 Chicago to hang out with us in our lounge. Rubye Wilson, produces "The N Beat" with fellow ABC producer, Holly Grishom, a show that features compelling stories from Chicago's Latin communities. Our March charity, The Miracle Center, offers a number of programs and services designed with aim to empower the next generation of Hispanic youth in Chicago. Make sure to tune in to "The N Beat" on Saturday March 25th at 6:00 pm on ABC 7 Chicago. Learn more about our fundraising campaign Cocktails for a Cause and about our March partnership with The Miracle Center, a fabulous charity with an amazing cause. We hope that this exposure will encourage people to get involved and work together with us to raise money and awareness for The Miracle Center. We hope we can inspire more of Chicago businesses to create similar philanthropic initiatives. We need more stories in the news that draw attention to kindness, compassion, and positivity!
